NJ Diesel Remote Support

Your dedicated RustDesk connection, hosted in New Jersey.

Install on each Windows PC

This package is for Windows 11 x64 and requires an administrator. It installs the official RustDesk client and applies NJ Diesel’s server and security settings. If RustDesk is already present, its server settings will change.

Download Windows setup

  1. Download the ZIP. Right-click it and choose Extract All.
  2. Open the extracted folder and double-click Install-NJ-Diesel.cmd. Approve the Windows administrator prompt. If Windows or your security software blocks it, contact Somo; do not turn off antivirus.
  3. Wait for Setup configured. Keep any error message; an error means setup is incomplete.
  4. Open RustDesk from the Start menu. Install on both the connecting PC and the PC you want to reach.
  5. Ask Somo to verify the first connection and disk-encryption status before using sensitive files.

Connect with approval

Confirm the other person’s identity, enter the receiving PC’s RustDesk ID, and request a connection. Someone at the receiving PC must click Accept. Close the session when finished.

The starting configuration allows screen control. File transfer, clipboard sharing, tunneling, terminal, camera, audio, printing and session recording are disabled. No shared permanent password is installed. Ask Somo before enabling unattended access.

On the first session, check RustDesk’s connection information for an encrypted connection and verify a harmless test document. Stop if an encryption or key warning appears.

Encryption and recovery

The service has its own server identity and encrypted service-data storage. Daily offsite backups are encrypted; seven copies are retained. Somo holds the disk-unlock key outside the New Jersey host. A server restart requires Somo to unlock the service, and the daily backup briefly pauses it.

PC encryption is a separate step. Setup records BitLocker status in C:\ProgramData\NJ-Diesel-RustDesk\Setup-Result.txt. Somo must confirm that system, data and removable drives are encrypted and that their recovery keys are safely stored. The setup does not automatically encrypt a PC.

Your encrypted recovery copy is supplied separately. Keep its passphrase apart from the file. Somo manages recovery and will arrange the passphrase handoff. Encryption does not protect an already unlocked or compromised computer; authorized administrators and the hosting platform remain trust boundaries. Network and operating metadata can still exist.

Manual server settings

If Somo asks you to check settings, open RustDesk → Settings → Network → ID/Relay server.

Leave blank. This deployment uses RustDesk Server OSS.

The public key identifies this server; it is not a remote-access password. Configure both endpoints. Pro account login, a central address book and a rebranded RustDesk application are not included; the setup package and service are customized for NJ Diesel.

Support and scope

helpdesk@somotechs.com · Mention NJ Diesel and include the setup error or report. Do not email passwords or recovery keys.

The one-time deployment charge is $175. This remote-support service is separate from the proposed shared tuning server and USB-dongle project. It does not itself create multiple independent desktops or forward tuning dongles.
